Together with Mobilis, Tauw, Pannekoek GWW, Xylem, Moekotte and Croonwolter&Dros, RWB is working on the construction of the new WWTP in Weesp for the Amstel, Gooi and Vecht Water Board.

The Amstel, Gooi en Vecht water board is building a new WWTP on the site of the current sewage treatment plant in Weesp. This is an ICEAS purification system from Xylem, in which the purification process is not carried out in several tanks, but in one purification tank. This leaves room for future developments.

The current sewage treatment plant in Weesp dates from 1974 and needs to be replaced. Oxidation beds are still being used at the moment, a technology that is hardly ever used in the Netherlands anymore. Also, the different permit requirements are not being met. In the field of nitrogen, for example, the water board has a temporary permit with more extensive requirements. “The realisation of the new purification system will put an end to this undesirable situation”, states the Water Board.
